How a Remote Desktop session actually behaves

These are standard Remote Desktop features. What gets shared between your device and the server is controlled by your RDP client’s Local Resources settings.

Disconnect is not log offClosing the Remote Desktop window leaves your session running on the server. Sign out explicitly when you want the applications to stop.
Clipboard sharingCopy and paste between your device and the server when clipboard redirection is enabled in your RDP client.
Drive and printer redirectionYour RDP client can expose local drives and printers to the remote session, so you can move files and print from the server.

Four things worth knowing before you order

An RDP VPS is a server, not a consumer Windows PC. Being clear about that up front saves a support ticket later.

It is Windows Server, not Windows 11You get a server operating system with a desktop experience. The Microsoft Store is not part of it, and some consumer apps refuse to install on Server editions.
No GPUPlans are CPU-only. That is fine for accounting software, browsers, and CPU-bound batch jobs, but not for GPU-accelerated rendering or games.
One operator by defaultWindows Server provides administrative remote sessions. Several concurrent users need Microsoft Remote Desktop Services licensing, which you supply.

What access and addressing do I get?

Every instance ships with administrator access enabled and one dedicated IPv4 address, auto-assigned when the server is provisioned. The login user, password, and IPv4 are published with your service in the client area, and you can generate a new password there at any time.

Can I connect without installing an RDP client?

Yes, for Windows services the client area includes a Web RDP button that opens a browser-based session. On your own machine you can also use the built-in Remote Desktop Connection app on Windows, or any RDP client on macOS, Linux, and tablets.

I am locked out or the session will not start. What now?

Use the client area: reset the Windows login password to get a new credential, open the console to see what is happening before Windows boots, or stop and start the instance for a clean restart.

What does rebuilding the operating system do?

It reinstalls the server from an OS template you pick. The system drive is formatted and all data on it is erased, so take a backup first. The rebuild is started from the service page in your client area.

Is this Windows 10 or Windows 11?

No. These are Windows Server instances with a desktop experience. The Microsoft Store is not included, and some consumer applications will not install on a Server edition. If a specific app is essential, ask us before ordering.

Can several people use the same RDP server?

Windows Server provides administrative remote sessions, which suit one operator. Running several concurrent users needs Microsoft Remote Desktop Services licensing, which you supply. Our plans are sized for a single operator unless you license RDS separately.

Can I run GPU workloads?

No. The plans are CPU-only, so video encoding and rendering run on the CPU. That is fine for batch jobs, but not for GPU-accelerated work.

How do I move files to the server?

Remote Desktop can share your local drives and clipboard with the session when those redirections are enabled in your RDP client. You can also transfer over the network using whatever tools you already use.

Are backups included?

Automated daily backups are an optional add-on priced at 20% of the plan’s recurring amount per month. Ask our team to add backups to a new or existing server.

Why is the AE01 plan not listed here?

AE01 is a Linux-only entry plan, so it cannot host a Windows desktop. It remains available on the standard VPS hosting page for Linux workloads.
