A domain is the address. Hosting is the house.

People type a name. DNS turns that name into the server that should answer. Buying yourbrand.com does not build a website, create email, or include a control panel. Those are separate services you point the name at afterwards.

The name is a leaseYou pay the registry, through us, for a term — usually a year. Miss renewal long enough and the name can return to the pool.
Two prices matterSearch shows register, renew, and transfer. A cheap first year is not a cheap name for life. Budget the renew column.
DNS is the pointerAfter checkout you set nameservers. That is how the same name can serve a site here, email elsewhere, or both.
Transfer is a registrar moveUnlock, EPP code, approve the email. The website keeps answering if you leave nameservers alone.

The vocabulary

Words on the search page, in plain language

TLD / extension: The ending after the last dot. .com and .org are generic (ICANN). .in is India’s country ending, run with NIXI rules that can differ from .com.
Register: The first purchase of an available name. The price you see in live search is the current register rate, tax-inclusive when tax applies.
Renew: Keeping the name for another year. This is the number that repeats. It is often higher than a promotional register price.
Transfer: Moving billing to us. Most generic transfers add one year and need a current authorization (EPP) code from the losing registrar.
Premium: The registry, not us, can mark a name as premium. Those names cost more or need a support quote. Availability alone is not a standard price.
Auth / EPP code: A one-time password for the name. You request a fresh one at the current registrar. A screenshot from last year will fail.

Choosing an ending

.com is familiar. .in is local. The rest are tools.

Live prices sit in the table on the search page. Register and renew are often different. A short or dictionary name can be marked premium by the registry — search will show that, or ask you to contact us.

.com when the audience is anyone

Still the ending people guess first. If the exact .com is taken, a longer .com is often clearer than an obscure new ending nobody will type.

.in when the audience is India

A country ending. Useful for a local business or a site that should read as Indian. Registry rules and transfer timing can differ from .com.

Other endings as a second name

.org, .net, and newer endings can work as a project or campaign name. Check the renew column — some first-year deals jump sharply later.

Some SSD Web Hosting plans include a .com for the first year. It renews at the standard .com rate after that — not a permanent free name.

After you own it

Nameservers decide where the name goes

The registry only stores who paid for the name and which nameservers it uses. Those nameservers publish the A, CNAME, and MX records that send web and email traffic.

What you do with a domain after registration

A website on our hosting	Use the nameservers printed on the hosting or VPS service. The domain and the hosting stay two products that you join with DNS.
The site to stay where it is	Leave the current nameservers after a transfer. Changing them is what moves web and email, not the transfer itself.
Email at another provider	Keep or copy the MX records they give you. A nameserver change without MX copies is how mailboxes go silent.
Only to reserve the name	Register it and leave DNS alone until you have a site. An unused name still has to be renewed.

Four things worth knowing before you pay

Domain charges do not reverseRegistrations, renewals, transfers, redemption fees, and other registry charges are non-refundable once fulfilled. That is in our refund policy, not a surprise at the ticket desk.

Expiry has a short fuseMost endings have a short grace window, then a redemption fee that is much higher than a normal renew. Do not wait for a reminder you might miss.

The registrant email must workRegistries send verification and transfer mail there. A typo, a full inbox, or a role account nobody reads will stall the name.

Privacy is not assumedSome endings allow a privacy or proxy contact. Others publish what the registry requires. Checkout and the TLD rules are the authority, not this page.

Do I need hosting if I only want the name?

No. Register the name and leave it parked until you have a site. Hosting, VPS, and email are separate products.

Why is renew more than register?

First-year prices are often promotional. The renew column on the search page is the figure to budget. Registry-wide price changes can move both numbers later.

What is a premium domain?

The registry marked that string as premium. It is not a standard TLD price. Search will show a different amount or tell you to contact support.

Can I point this domain at another host?

Yes. After you own it, change nameservers or individual DNS records to wherever the site and mail should live.

Are domains refundable?

No. Once the registry completes a registration, renewal, or transfer, the charge stands. See the refund policy for the full list, including redemption fees.
