A transfer changes the bill, not the website

Files, email, and DNS stay where they are unless you change nameservers afterwards. We check lock status and the authorization code before the name goes into your cart.

    Unlock it

    Disable the registrar lock. A locked name fails the check on the transfer form.

  2. Step 2

    Get a fresh code

    Ask the current registrar for the authorization or EPP code. Privacy or 2FA there can delay the email that carries it.

  3. Step 3

    We verify, then cart

    Enter the name and code. The form checks lock status against the registrar or public RDAP before you continue.

  4. Step 4

    Approve the request

    The registrant mailbox must confirm. Transfers sit for days when that address is an old employee inbox.

The 60-day lock is an ICANN gTLD rule

After a brand-new registration or a completed inbound transfer, most generic endings cannot transfer again for 60 days. Country endings such as .in can follow a different timetable. If the form refuses the name, that lock is the first thing to check.

Most transfers add a year

A typical .com transfer includes one year of renewal in the transfer price. Extra years, when the TLD allows them, are confirmed in the cart. Do not also renew at the old registrar in the same week unless you intend to pay twice.

Four things worth knowing before you pay

Domain charges do not reverseRegistrations, renewals, transfers, redemption fees, and other registry charges are non-refundable once fulfilled. That is in our refund policy, not a surprise at the ticket desk.
Expiry has a short fuseMost endings have a short grace window, then a redemption fee that is much higher than a normal renew. Do not wait for a reminder you might miss.
The registrant email must workRegistries send verification and transfer mail there. A typo, a full inbox, or a role account nobody reads will stall the name.
Privacy is not assumedSome endings allow a privacy or proxy contact. Others publish what the registry requires. Checkout and the TLD rules are the authority, not this page.

Are domains refundable?

No. Once the registry completes a registration, renewal, or transfer, the charge stands. See the refund policy for the full list, including redemption fees.

Will my site go down if I transfer?

Not because of the transfer itself. Leave nameservers unchanged and the site keeps answering. Changing DNS is a separate step.

How long does a transfer take?

Often a few hours to a few days after you approve the email. Locked names, a stale EPP code, or the 60-day gTLD lock stop the clock until those are fixed.
